next steps

The following steps outline exactly what the OnFarm program will involve for you as a producer:

  1. Call Alberta Agriculture and Food (AF) to confirm eligibility and if assessments are still available. AF staff will determine if you are eligible to participate in the program and answer and questions you have.
    • Contact Debbie Campbell from AF Agricultural Technology Centre at (403) 329-1212

  2. If you are deemed eligible, you can complete the application package available on the website or AF can mail you an application package. The application package must be received and successfully processed before a date for your assessment can be confirmed.
    • Please send your application package to C3
      Suite 930, 10303 Jasper Avenue
      Edmonton, AB T5J 3N6
      Attention: Tanya Maynes
  3. If your application package is successfully processed, an OnFarm assessor will contact you to set-up a date to perform the energy efficiency assessment. If your application package is not accepted (either because you are not eligible for the OnFarm program or your application package is incomplete) you will be contacted by an OnFarm representative to gather any additional information to complete the application package or discuss eligibility.
  4. An on-site inspection is expected to take approximately 4 hours, however, you should be prepared for the assessor to be on site for one full day. The assessment process requires staff and operators to be interviewed, so it is critical that time is given to the assessors while on site.
  5. Following the assessment, the assessor will complete a report. Once the report has been successfully verified by OnFarm staff (quality control), you will receive a final report outlining where energy is being consumed on your operation and recommendations on how to curb this energy use. Specific operational information will be kept strictly confidential; however general data gathered from the program will be aggregated and published.
  6. A survey will be conducted one year after the assessment has been performed to determine whether the program was beneficial to you and whether any of the recommendations have been implemented.
